SwampFire Retreat for Artists and Writers is the summer event of the Arts & Humanities Division. The 2012 retreat was held on July 13-15.

Debating in Defiance
Organized by Professor Todd Comer as a revision of the "Dialoging in Defiance" series of previous years, this series includes panels of presenters who engage in debate over current issues.

Schomburg Series
The yearly musical performance series of Defiance College is organized
by Arts & Humanities Professor Doug Fiely. The 2012-2013 season
includes both theatrical and musical performances.

Stratford Shakespeare Festival
Every year students travel with faculty to the Shakespeare festival for world-class theater in a European-style town. The 7th annual trip to Stratford, Ontario, took place on September 8-9, 2012 for Much Ado About Nothing.

The yearly trip is supported by the English Department, Global
Civilization Program, and Composition Program. For more information contact MC Harper, English Department professor. Passports are required.
